Dr. Shirey was born in Quincy, Illinois and was raised in Canton, Missouri. He discovered his love for animals at a young age and knew his calling was in veterinary medicine. He began working at a veterinary clinic in Canton cleaning kennels. After graduating from Canton High School, he attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
After graduating from the University of Missouri, Dr. Shirey returned to Canton and worked as an associate veterinarian at the local veterinary clinic where he first found his animal calling. Dr. Shirey practiced both large and small animal veterinary medicine at the animal clinic in Canton for 7 years.
In 2014, Dr. Shirey and his family moved to Athens, Texas to begin practicing at Morton Small Animal Clinic. He practiced mainly small animal veterinary medicine in Athens for 2 years before moving to Tyler to practice at Alexis Animal Clinic.
Dr. Shirey and his wife Heather have two children, Colin and Arie. When not working with his patients at Alexis Animal Clinic, Dr. Shirey enjoys golfing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Erica Dumeyer moved to Texas from her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky in 2014. Growing up in Kentucky, she spent her summers riding horses at her family's farm and competing in wakeboarding.
Dr. Dumeyer received her bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from Western Kentucky University in 2010, where she was an honors student, a collegiate varsity equestrian athlete, and on the varsity wakeboard team.
She then attended Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine, where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Dumeyer began practicing at Morton Small Animal Clinic in Athens, TX. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and large animal practice.
Dr. Dumeyer thoroughly enjoys hunting, equestrian sports, wakeboarding, soccer, and playing outside witth her three dogs Kodi, Gauge, and Kylo. When she isn't working with her patients, she spends her free time in the saddle.
Freddie has worked as a veterinary assistant for 20 years. He finds his career very rewarding because he loves helping animals. When he is not caring for pets at Alexis Animal Clinic, Freddie enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
Naomi has worked in the veterinary medical field for 4 years and loves learning about the compassionate care of animals, especially dogs and cats. In her free time, Naomi enjoys volunteering through her church's community outreach program and spending time with her husband and their boxer mix, Ciroc.
Tracey has worked as a professional pet groomer for over 10 years and loves making each pet look their very best. When she's not grooming, Tracey enjoys traveling and showing her dogs at dog shows across the country.
